    Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia) is used for anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, depression, headache and pain, with sedating effects and relaxes certain muscles, anti bacterial and anti fungal effect. In foods and beverages, lavender is used as a flavor component.

    Each pack contains 125 gr (1/4 lb) Dried Organic Lavender.

    Benefits

    Antiseptic, anti inflammatory, fragrance for bath products. English Lavender is used in balms, salves, perfumes, cosmetics and topical applications. Dried buds are used for cooking with a sweet fragrance with a taste of lemon or citrus notes. Used as a spice in pastas, salads, dressings and desserts. Buds and greens are used in teas and their buds are the essential ingredient of honey. Lavender flowers are blended with black, green or herbal teas. Greens are used to flavor meat and vegetables. They are also used to make teas which are milder than teas made with the flowers.

    Instructions and how to use

    Adults- by mouth. For anxiety, 80-160 mg of lavender oil taken daily for 6-10 weeks. Inhaled as Aromatherapy 8 drops of the oil containing 2% lavender and rose essential oil applied to a cotton pad and inhaled for 15 minutes twice weekly for 4 weeks. For Menstrual pains, apply 3 drops of lavender oil to the hands, inhale every 6 hours. For Fall prevention, attach a 1cmx2cm patch containing lavender oil to the clothing neckline. For pain after surgery apply two drops of 2% lavender essence to the inside of an oxygen face mask and inhale for 3 minutes at intervals after C-Section. For Canker Sores apply 2 drops of solution containing 36 mg of lavender oil three times daily.

    Side effects and Safety

    It is likely safe in food amounts. Possibly safe when taken by mouth, applied to the skin or inhaled in medicinal amounts. When taken by mouth, lavender can cause constipation, headache and increased appetite. When applied to the skin, lavender can sometimes cause irritation, although this is uncommon.

    Restrictions

    Lavender might slow down the Central Nervous System. Stop using lavender at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery. Applying products to the skin that contain lavender oil is possibly unsafe for young boys who have not yet reached puberty. The safety of these products when used by young girls is not known.

    Pregnancy and breast feeding

    There is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking lavender if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.

    Interactions

    Chloral Hydrate interacts with lavender. Sedative medications (Barbiturates) interacts with lavender.Sedative medications (CNS depressants) interacts with lavender.
