    Also known as Berberis herb. Fruit, bark and roots are used to make medicine. It has many culinary and traditional medicinal uses such as Zereshk Pollow, gastrointestinal track discomforts, heart burn, stomach cramps, constipation and lack of appetite.

    Culinary use

    This product is used for making many food items such as Kookoo, Kotlet, Zereshk pollow, jam, fruit syrup, jellies and wine.

    Medicinal use

    Diarrhea, reduces fever, improves appetite, relieves upset stomach and promotes vigor.

    Side Effects

    Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and fainting.

    Drug Interaction

    Cyclosporine, Medications changed by the liver interacts with barberry.

    Pregnancy and lactation

    The berberine in barberry can pass from a mother's body to the fetus by the placenta, therefore this product is prohibited during pregnancy. It also can be transferred to an infant through breast milk, and might cause brain damage.
